Time Keeps Moving Forward

by Casey BiggsMARCH 27, 2023

I know...it's been some time since I have put out a new blog post. Nevertheless, I am back! Just as everyone else, time catches up to us in the blink of an eye and we can lose focus on our surroundings.

I finally completed my degree in May, 2022 in Graphic Design and Media Arts and have made the decision to return once again to school to earn my Master's Degree in Marketing with a concentration in Social Media Marketing. While I know that this might surprise some of you and say that I must be a glutton for punishment, I would like to quickly point out that both these degrees will work in tandem with one another and will help me pursue my own personal goals for my career and future.

Q&A: Are you still doing graphic design and photography?

Yes! I am still working in both mediums, while not as much as my Master's takes a lot of time along with my day to day duties, but I still dabble in the arts. I have been producing random informational flyers, creating and editing social media posts both personally and for clients, and have done photography services for events. My eye is always on the arts and still seek out inspiration from others and their artforms and use that as motivation for future projects. My project list keeps expanding as there are so many mixed forms that I want to try them all!

Welcome, Adoration, and Vision

First, I just want to start off by extending a heartfelt thank you for taking the time to stop by, browse my portfolio galleries and get a small glimpse into what it is that I spend a lot of my time doing, other than the usual hustle and bustle of a mom.

While one can be quick to assume that the job of the "artist" is to simply draw, color and snap an image...there is so much more than that.  To be an artist sure, you should have some artistic qualities, but being able to channel your vision, to see the possibilities and explore them all while being creative is a job that I am more than willing to pursue.  Yes, I have held many traditional jobs from bank teller, notary public, to store manager, but none are as fulfilling like chasing after the thing that I love...art.

Many Faces of Art

I have never been complacent with focusing all of my artistic desires into one medium.  In fact, I feel that mixed mediums give me more balance and creative freedom.  I still pick up the paintbrush and canvas when I can, but I have really enjoyed exploring the digital arts and photography over these last few years.  To find new creative ways to express myself and create works that I take pride in is the ultimate goal.  So if it is a magazine layout, 2D animation short, animated gifs, logo design or photography, I can continue to further my skills, but more importantly immerse myself deeper into the artistic fields.

Just like a puzzle that isn't quite complete, I don't plan to be complete with my journey through art.  After all, the mind never stops learning, so why should I stop as an artist?  Looking to the future whether it be near or far, I see progression with my designs and photography as well as progression within my own aspirations.  What else is there to say other than I am looking further to inspiration and creation.  Let the world be abound with art in its many colors and artforms!
